How has it been almost a year?!

Dear Liam,
Yikes! I have been a horrible blogger! I swear, I just completely forgot about this. The last year has been busy. Life simply got in the way. The days are just filled from start to finish, with school, baseball, soccer, homework, etc.

You're doing great in third grade. You have a male teacher for the first time this year, and I think it's been really good for you. You're currently reading the third Harry Potter book, and you were Harry for Halloween. Your reading skills amaze me. You also can figure out your math problems in ways that I never would have thought of. I think you're having some problems with your friends right now, feeling left out sometimes when people choose partners in class. But, I think things will get better or change soon. I think these issues are just happening because of where your friends sit, next to each other. I truly don't think they're purposely excluding you. But, friend stuff can be hard! You'll go through periods of your life when it will seem like you have no friends, but you really always do. You're an awesome kid, and everybody loves you.

You had an orthodontist consult yesterday. We're going to start using a polish on your thumb for the next 6 weeks to see if that can help you stop sucking your thumb. If it doesn't work, or if there isn't enough change/improvement in your bite, then you'll probably be getting braces in the new year. You'll have them just across the top front 6 teeth, with a tongue crib behind it, to stop you from thumb sucking. They'd be on for a year. This is going to be so hard for you, my sweet boy. You've been sucking your thumb since you were only a couple months old. But, I know that you can do it. You're ready, and you WILL do it. You've been so worried about it, but we will get through this together.

Christmas is coming soon. I think you're officially a big kid. You've asked for- a TV for your room, an Xbox, and a loft bed. I'm certain that Santa can't bring you all of those things, but I'm guessing he can bring you one of them. And maybe the others will be future Christmas or birthday gifts.

I love you more than you could ever know.

Love,
Mommy
