My sweet boy

Dear Liam,
Over the weekend, you had a very scary experience with a couple of dogs. You and I had gone to a baby shower for one of my coworkers. The host's dogs cornered you in the backyard, and you fell back onto the ground. They were lunging at you and barking, and you were screaming. It was very scary. I was standing 10 feet away, and I couldn't tell if they were biting you or not. I developed some sort of superstrength in the moment, and I ran down the stairs, picked up you, ran through the house to grab my purse, and carried you a block to the car. (Later in the day, I tried to pick you up to see something up high, and I could hardly even lift you!) You were so scaredy, and for me, it was the scariest moment I've ever had as a parent. A couple days later, you wanted to play in our backyard. You ran a few feet out into the yard, and the neighbor's dog barked at you, just once, from over in their yard. You screamed and ran back to me, and now you refuse to go into the backyard if their dog is out there. My poor, sweet boy. I'm so sorry this happened to you.

You had your six year well check a couple days ago, finally. You've gotten bigger! At the start of the school year, you were 44 inches and 44 pounds. You're now 45.25 inches and 46 pounds!

I can't even believe it's April. The school year is more than three quarters done. Your third quarter report card was awesome. You just keep improving in everything. Your math and reading continue to improve. I love hearing you read. It amazes me every time.

I love you, my sweet boy.

Love,
Mommy
