Finally sleeping through the night!

Yes! You are finally sleeping through the night! About two weeks ago, you just suddenly slept through the night four nights in a row. On the fifth night, you woke up once, but I just rocked you for a couple minutes, and then laid you back down. I didn't nurse you. Since then, you've slept through the night every night! Once in awhile, you'll cry for a minute or so at some point, but you then go right back to sleep without me needing to come in to rock or nurse you.

This is a really big deal to me. You suddenly seem like a toddler. And, this is one less time that I'm nursing you each day, so it's one more step on the road to weaning completely.

I hope this continues. :) I love you Liam.

Mommy

1 year old!

I can't believe you're a year old now, Liam. The last year has been amazing. I love being your mommy. It's the greatest job in the world, but it's really not a "job" at all. I was meant to be your mommy. You are my greatest accomplishment.

I think you really enjoyed your birthday cake. You got to eat two of them! I made one cake for your "smash cake" professional pictures, and another one that we all ate on your actual birthday. I took lots of pictures and videos, to remember the special day. I can't wait to see your professional pictures. You wore an argyle sweater and khaki pants, and looked like such a big boy. You're really not a baby anymore.

You're in the toddler room full-time at daycare now. You run around and play with the big kids, and nap on a cot, and eat your breakfast and lunch there. Such a big boy.

You're favorite word lately is "go." You love to yell "GO GO GO!" It's so funny. You can mimic the sound of "cat" and "thank you" fairly well. I wonder what word will be next?! I can't wait to hear you say more words.

We made it to a year with breaastfeeding. I'm so proud of myself for this. You never had a drop of formula. You started drinking some whole milk last month, but you're still getting primarily breastmilk. I'm gradually decreasing the numer of times I pump milk for you at work each day. I'd like to continue to just breastfeed in the morning and evening... we'll see how it goes.

I heard a Dixie Chicks song today that I haven't heard in a few years. I immediately thought of you, Liam, and I cried and cried. The song is called "Lullaby." Here are the lyrics:

They didn't have you where I come from
Never knew the best was yet to come
Life began when I saw your face
And I hear your laugh like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up.

I slip in bed when you're asleep
To hold you close and feel your breath on me
Tomorrow there'll be so much to do
So tonight I'll drift in a dream with you

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up

As you wander through this troubled world
In search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you're miles away
And hear my voice like a serenade

How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough, is forever enough
How long do you want to be loved
Is forever enough
Cause I'm never, never giving you up
